Numazo Volume 1 cover: 90 print-and-go math puzzles, three levels, and an answer key

Someone always finishes first, and you need something in your hand.

You know the moment. The first sheet comes in while the rest of the room is still working, and "just read quietly" is not a plan.

You print it, and only then find out the level was a guess.

"Grades 3–5" can mean three different things. You wanted to know before it went through the copier, not after.

You hand it out to keep your small group going, and you get called right back.

The whole point was not to stop teaching. Instead, you're across the room explaining how it works.

"No prep" that still wants scissors, glue, and a bag to keep the pieces in.

It said no prep. Then came the cutting, the coloring, and the storage question.

One typo, and a stack of copies you can't use.

A repeated answer, a wrong number, a puzzle that doesn't quite work. Out comes the Wite-Out, or the whole stack goes in the recycling bin.

  • If something is always missing when the first student finishes, you keep improvising, every day.
  • If the level is a guess, you keep printing first and finding out second.
  • If every sheet needs you to explain it, your small group keeps getting interrupted.
  • If "no prep" keeps meaning scissors and storage, the prep time you were trying to save comes right back.
  • If one error means a stack of copies you can't use, you stop trusting what you download.

Numazo is a set of printable math puzzles in PDF, for grades 3 to 8. Each puzzle is one page, and each page tells you its level.

Every puzzle is a grid of circles joined by arrows. Each arrow carries an operation (+8, −3, ×2, ÷4). You start at the black circle, which has a number in it. Then you follow the arrows, do the math, and fill in every circle. Every number is a whole number, and each circle has just one answer.

What makes it different: the level is printed on the sheet. At the top of every page you'll see EASY, MEDIUM, or HARD, with the operations right there next to it, and the instructions in plain words: Start at the black circle. Follow the arrows, do the math, and fill in every circle. You see the level before you hand it out. You don't find out afterward.

Each puzzle is one sheet: nothing to cut, color, or assemble, and no pieces to store. Print it and hand it out.

How you use it: download the PDF, print the sheets you want, and keep the answer key next to you. Use it as a warm-up: start at the black circle, follow the arrows, do the math. It also works for early finishers or a math center.

  • You'll stop guessing the level. It's printed at the top of every sheet.
  • You'll have the instructions printed at the top of every sheet and a "How to play" page with a worked example.
  • You'll be able to print tonight and hand it out tomorrow. One puzzle per page.
  • You'll be able to check any puzzle against its solved page in the answer key, in the same order.
  • You'll have 90 puzzles per volume, in three labeled levels, ready for early finishers, warm-ups, or a math center.

Numazo, printable math puzzles, by Chakana.

Cover of Numazo Volume 1

Printable puzzles in PDF, letter size. Each volume has 90 puzzles, one per page, in three levels, plus a cover, a "How to play" page, and a separate answer key. There are 9 volumes, 810 puzzles in all. For grades 3 to 8. After you pay, Hotmart emails you the link to your PDFs, and you download them.

In every volume, 90 puzzles, one per page. The level is printed on each sheet.

EASY, puzzles #1–30: addition and subtraction. Numbers in the circles go from 1 to 50.

MEDIUM, puzzles #31–60: all four operations. Numbers from 1 to 50.

HARD, puzzles #61–90: all four operations. Numbers up to 99.

Also in every volume:

  • A cover and a "How to play" page: the rules, a worked example, and the three levels.
  • An answer key, as a separate PDF for each volume. Every puzzle is solved in the same order, with the numbers in green.

Volumes don't get harder as the volume numbers go up. Every volume repeats the same three levels with new puzzles. Volume 1 and Volume 9 look the same on the page: same levels, new puzzles.

Letter-size PDF. It reads well printed in black and white (the Numazo name and the level badge are in blue, the key in green). License: for use in one classroom or one home.

Every puzzle was solved by a program and checked against its answer key.

Here are real pages from Volume 1 and its answer key, so you can see them before you decide: the cover, the "How to play" page, an EASY sheet, a HARD sheet, and a solved page from the answer key. Look at the top of each sheet and you'll see the level.

Numazo is for you if:

  • you teach grades 3 to 8 in a classroom;
  • you want something for early finishers, a warm-up, or a math center that you can print and hand out;
  • you want to see the level on the sheet before you print it.

It's probably not for you if:

  • you teach K–2;
  • you're looking for logic problems or brain teasers (Numazo is arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division);
  • you want something physical (this is a PDF you print yourself);
  • you want an app or something interactive on a screen (these are paper puzzles);
  • you need standards alignment (Numazo doesn't include it).

If you get stuck, write to us at soporte.chakanahg@gmail.com, and we'll ask for the refund for you. Full terms: Refund Policy.

You have 7 days. Go to refund.hotmart.com and enter the transaction number from your purchase email. You can also write to soporte.chakanahg@gmail.com.

What if the email doesn't arrive?

Check your spam or promotions folder first. If it's not there, write to soporte.chakanahg@gmail.com and include the email address you used to pay.

Which level will work for my class?

Numazo doesn't tie a level to a grade. Instead, each level tells you what it uses: EASY is addition and subtraction with numbers from 1 to 50. MEDIUM uses all four operations with numbers from 1 to 50. HARD uses all four operations with numbers up to 99. If your students are still working on adding and subtracting, start with EASY; if they're comfortable with all four operations, try MEDIUM or HARD. Every volume has all three levels, so you can print one sheet of each and see.

What if a puzzle has a mistake?

Every puzzle, all 810, was solved by a program and checked against its answer key. If something still looks wrong to you, write to soporte.chakanahg@gmail.com with the volume and the puzzle number.

There are free math worksheets online. Why pay?

Many free worksheets are fine. Numazo gives you 90 puzzles per volume in three labeled levels, the level printed on every sheet, and a solved answer key in the same order, so you know the level before you print.

Can I share it with another teacher?

No. The license is for one classroom or one home. Another teacher can get their own copy.

What currency do you charge in?

Prices are in US dollars (USD). Hotmart processes the payment on our behalf. In some US states, sales tax is added at checkout.
